I was asked to speak at the 2025 Surrey Organ Donation study day in December. The morning was dedicated to doctors and clinicians involved in the organ donation and transplant, leaving the afternoon for recipients and donor families to tell their stories.
It was such an honour to be invited and to be able to tell medical staff my story and show the difference organ donation and transplant has made to my life. It was also an honour to meet two donor families and hear their respective journeys that resulted in organ donation.
I am looking forward to more opportunities to speak to medical and clinical staff, and help improve understanding and care for transplant recipients on every step of their journey. It is only through sharing lived experience that improvements can be made for all current and future transplant patients.
