I felt I was “Today Years Old” when I learned this recently but I wanted to share it as it is a really good tip for any of you who have to split a tablet for a dosage.
I have to split one tiny tablet seven times each week when I am repleneshing my dosette box and sometimes this is hard, depending on the brand of tablet. BUT! A handy tip I found out if you need to break a tablet for a split dose.
- Get a spoon and hold it so that the curved bowl is pointing towards you.
- Place your tablet against the back of the bowl using your thumbs each side (with the tablet groove pointed up if it has one.)
- Push evenly down on both thumbs and voilà, the tablet should break neatly in two
I have found this works really well, and much neater and more accurate than pill cutters, so I wanted to pass it on as a top tip.
