Inspiring PSHE Talks For Schools
I deliver engaging and relatable talks that help students explore resilience, mental wellbeing and the value of community. Drawing on my personal experience as a heart transplant recipient, I bring real‑life insight into overcoming adversity and making positive choices—helping young people reflect on how they respond to challenges in their own lives.

Raising Awareness
As part of my talks, I raise awareness of organ donation and the life‑saving impact it can have. By sharing my own story of receiving a heart transplant, I help students understand what transplantation means in real life, why talking about organ donation matters, and how young people can start these important conversations with family and friends. The aim is to inform, encourage discussion, and help students feel confident to think about and share their wishes in the future.
Speaking Experience
I’ve spoken in schools, colleges, medical and community settings, always adapting each talk to the audience. In schools, my sessions fit naturally into PSHE themes such as resilience, empathy, making positive choices and understanding health issues. Talks for staff or healthcare audiences offer the recipient’s perspective on patient care, mental health and living with chronic illness.

Speaking Topics Include:
- The Gift of Organ Donation: A Recipient’s Perspective
- The Biology of Transplant (explained for students)
- Living with a Life‑Changing Diagnosis
- The Heart Transplant Journey: Before, During and After
- Resilience and Recovery: Life After Transplant
- Mental and Physical Health: Managing Both
Perfect For
- PSHE programmes and assemblies in schools and colleges
- Academic CPD sessions for staff
- Medical conferences and healthcare training
- Community events and after‑dinner talks

What Sets My Talks Apart
My talks blend real‑life storytelling with practical reflection, delivered with openness and authenticity. I adapt each session to suit the audience — from inspiring students to understand organ donation and appreciate life’s challenges, to helping medical professionals see things through a patient’s eyes.
Talks can be short assemblies, classroom sessions, or longer workshops with discussion and Q&A. Each one aims to leave people informed, reflective and better prepared to have conversations that matter.

Testimonials
“Dave, I had my Year 9s on Friday and we discussed your talk. They used “brilliant”, “amazing” to describe it and a number said it was up there with the best talks they have had in school ever. They thought it was pitched just right and gave them plenty to think about whilst learning so much. Again, thank you for taking the time to give this important talk to my class.” – Jon, Surbiton High School.
“Hi Dave, I don’t think I can adequately express in an email how inspiring your talk was yesterday , nor how grateful I am for your time. I can safely say the rest of the training afternoon paled in comparison after you had spoken! “- Harriet, Forthouse Surgery.
